Cudjoe Key, part of the Lower Keys in Florida, is a perfect place to enjoy the Keys without the crowds of tourists found in other destinations. The Lower Keys are known as a relaxing getaway from the “spring break” attitude. Here you can enjoy a quiet bicycle ride, explore Looe Key’s coral reef, or just throw back at a tiki bar on the beach. Enjoy watching the sunset over golden lagoons and mangrove isles. The tourism industry is not as overpowering here, so this region is quiet and relaxing. With a boat rental you can enjoy a day in the water cruising the Sugarloaf Channel or travel down to Key West by sea. Guided fishing trips are also available in the area and promise to make your trip one to remember. Just a few miles away in Big Pine Key is Bahia Honda State Park encompassing over 500 acres. This is a great park for bird watching, hiking, bicycling, swimming, snorkeling and fishing. Be sure to also check out Big Pine Key’s “other resident” the Key Deer at the National Key Deer Refuge. If you want to spend a little money Big Pine Key and Key West offer the best shopping in the Lower Keys and are only a short drive from Cudjoe Key. Relax, explore, and enjoy this preserved paradise.
