Lake Panasoffkee is located in central Florida, about 50 miles West of Orlando and 50 miles North of Tampa. You will not find any glitzy tourist shops or even a large shopping mall here. To that end, Lake Panasoffkee is very peaceful and relaxing. This is a community that is based largely on the amazing big mouth bass fishing that the lake provides. Fishing camps, expert guides, rental fishing equipment and boats are all available in the area. The lake is spring fed and home to many species of fish, including largemouth bass, bluegill and catfish. The surrounding area is home to golf courses and other recreational sites, but if you are looking for big entertainment, some of Florida’s main attractions are just a short drive away. Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, Orlando, and Tampa’s Busch Gardens are all within a short drive from Lake Panasoffkee. A short drive to the West of the lake and you will find yourself in the middle of the Crystal River, where you can go on guided canoe trips along the rivers and swim with manatees. In short, Lake Panasoffkee will put you close enough to Florida’s main attractions for a day trip and still keep you far enough away you don’t feel like you are in a tourist trap. The Tampa International Airport (TPA, 55miles) and the Orlando International Airport (MCO, 50miles) are the closest large airports to Lake Panasoffkee. |
