Lakeland is a small city about 35 miles East of Tampa along I-4. As its name suggests, the area is littered with lakes that vary in size. These lakes provide hours of entertainment for both locals and tourists. Fishing, boating, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities here. In the lakes and in the city’s many parks you will see swans, herons and even a few alligators. Among the parks here is an exquisite botanical garden where you can walk through a butterfly garden and explore the native plant life. Lakeland is also host to some beautiful golf courses that are just waiting to be played. A short drive to the West puts you in the heart of Tampa. Tampa is home to Busch Gardens, many professional sports teams, and a wide variety of fine shopping and dining. Traveling East for about 40 miles on I-4 will take you to Disney Word and the rest of Orlando’s attractions. The Tampa International Airport (TPA, 35miles) and the Orlando International Airport (MCO, 49miles) are the closest large airports to Lakeland. |
