Palm Island is situated along the Intracoastal Waterway on Florida's Southwest Gulf Coast. The island itself is comprised of Knight, Don Pedro and Gasparilla islands, and is approximately seven miles long and 700 yards wide at the largest part. Travel to the island via car ferry and park your car in an island parking area. The Palm Island area is world famous for its quality fishing and hosts one of the finest backwater flats in Florida. With a choice of bay fishing, surf and deep-sea fishing, almost anything goes. Test your skills fishing for tarpon, redfish, mullet, mackerel, red snapper and grouper. There are many wonderful restaurants located along the water’s edge and some are also available by water taxi. Golfing, tennis, shopping and many other activities can be found back on the mainland in the Rotonda area. The closest airports to Palm Island are the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ, 40miles) and the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW, 45miles). |
