Rotonda West is a small coastal community about 40 miles south of Sarasota, Florida. The Lemon Bay and a set of small islands (some not accessible by car) are all that separate the shoreline of Rotonda West from the Gulf of Mexico. The area has many parks and recreational activities, however if you are trying to get to the beach you may need to head north to Englewood and drive out onto the barrier islands from there, or drive south to Gasparilla Island. Rotonda West has many well kept and challenging golf courses for the golf enthusiast to choose from, and offers tennis courts for those who want to swing a racquet a couple of times during their vacation. Boat and kayak rentals are available to explore Lemon Bay and Placida Harbor. Fishing gear and charter boats can also be purchased in the area. On the southern end of Manasota Key you will find the closest state park, Stump Pass Beach State Park. The park has wonderful beaches for shelling. Snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, fishing and many more activities are supported by the park as well as a full range of amenities. With the surrounding area offering so much, a Rotonda West vacation would be a hard vacation to pass up. The nearest airports to Rotonda West are the Charlotte County Airport (PGD, 22miles), the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ, 43miles) and the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW, 51miles). |
