Cape Canaveral is on the east coast of Florida due east of Orlando. The surrounding area is known as the “Space Coast” and for good reason. Aside from the coast’s 72 miles of beaches; one of the most attractive features of the Cape is the Kennedy Space Center, which is less than 3 miles away. Caribbean-bound cruise ships set out from Port Canaveral, a man made port with wonderful seafood restaurants and countless marinas. There are many wildlife preserves, national parks, and zoos for those who wish to nature watch. Have a need for speed? Daytona International Speedway is just under 60 miles away. There you can park on the beach and spend the day walking around town. If you time your vacation just right you can visit Daytona during Biketoberfest in late October.
