Twenty miles north from Fort Lauderdale, along the Gold Coast, and easily accessible from I-95, you can find the beachfront community of Delray Beach. Delray Beach, though sister city to the exclusive and expensive Boca Raton, is much more laid back and offers a more relaxed and less expensive vacation. Delray Beach’s downtown consists mainly of Atlantic Avenue, which houses many fine dining experiences, quaint shops, and fine art galleries. Daytime is quiet in downtown Delray Beach, but at night the area comes alive with its trendy bars and restaurants. Delray Beach Public Beach and Atlantic Dunes Beach, just south of Delray, offer daytime entertainment on their beautiful clean sands. Both beaches have lifeguards and have public amenities such as bathrooms, changing rooms and snack shops. If you are looking to do a little snorkeling or scuba diving, Moray Bend just off of the Boca Inlet is the area’s most popular site. Delray Beach is also home to a great tennis center with both clay and hard courts available by the hour. Other area attractions include the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, the Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex and many championship level golf courses. Palm Beach International Airport (PBI, 15miles), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL, 24miles) and the Miami International Airport (MIA, 50miles) are the closest airports to Delray Beach.
