Along Ocean Boulevard and between the cities of Boca Raton and Delray Beach is the small community of Highland Beach. Though this community covers a small area, barely a half-mile wide, its location provides the perfect getaway for those looking to vacation along the Atlantic Ocean on Florida’s eastern coast. Most of the population here in Highland Beach consists of snowbirds and retirees. This keeps the area nice and relaxing next to its high profile neighbors. However, those neighbors are where you want to go if you are looking for exquisite shopping, fine dining or perhaps a museum or two. Boca Raton provides a great place to sit at a café and people watch, but you best do your shopping and spending in Delray Beach as its shops and restaurants are less expensive. The Spanish River Park Beach will be your closest public access to the ocean while staying in Highland Beach. This park has a half-mile long beach with amenities that include lifeguards, picnic sites, restrooms, showers and volleyball nets. Other activities in the area include snorkeling, world-class golfing, tennis, fishing and bicycling. Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is located just 20 miles north of Highland Beach. Other nearby airports include Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL, 25miles) and Miami International Airport (MIA, 45miles). |
