Tarpon Springs is located about 25 miles northwest of Tampa, Florida among many bayous and lakes. Though the waterfront here does not lend itself to be sandy, there are two great beaches to visit on the western side of town. Sunset Beach and the beach at Fred Howard Park are both on islands reachable by car and are a great place to spend a day on the sand. Back in town there are great activities to take part in. Challenging golf courses are found throughout the city and the many bodies of water provide great fishing holes. Charter fishing is also available for those that want to get out on the ocean and catch the big one. The parks and bayous in the area are great places to tour the countryside and explore the natural habitat of the many different animals that live here.
